SERGIO SORRENTINO, GUITAR | CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL MUSIC

Sergio Sorrentino performs contemporary works for classical, electric, baroque and battente guitar
by Sergio Sorrentino (1, 2, 10), Maurizio Pisati (3), Massimo Munari (4), Azio Corghi (5), Ivano Morrone (6), Fabio Cifariello Ciardi (7), Andrew McKenna Lee (8), Bruno Maderna (9)

Tempus Fugit is a musical journey through Time. The guitar (instrument with an archaic sound and at the same time particularly peculiar for the New Music) lives in a border area, in a sort of Time “limbo”. That's why the guitar (classical, electric, baroque or battente guitar, particular kind of instrument that belongs to the South of Italy ancient musical tradition) is explored by contemporary composers through evocations of ancient sounds, sonic research, avant-garde innovations, visionary and futuristic electronics. Time flies (Tempus Fugit) with the guitar, between past and future ...

“Album of immense artistic stature that opens to the new horizons of classical guitar, building a bridge between the recent past and near future” (Rockerilla - Italian National Music Magazine)

"Tempus Fugit by Sergio Sorrentino, talented guitarist, whose compositions and interpretations are rigorous and perfect, thanks also to the quality of the recording. A "journey" album, from the first very classic approaches to an unexpected electric sound, passing through Bach and flamenco, but without being aware of all this. Hypnotic." (Il Giornale)

"One of the things that marks a great performance is the ability of the performer to transcend the material, and imbue it with a sense of effortless expression. The music needs to flow as if the performer were speaking his own native language. Sorrentino has achieved that level of fluency with Sunrise from the Bottom of the Sea, and in this sense, has captured the essence of what originally inspired the piece — the spirit of Jimi Hendrix." (Andrew McKenna Lee)
